To be in the heard, but be ahead of the curve.
We all follow a path
that is being led by industry leaders. They develop the best plan and strategy
in such a way that it is the optimal way to attain profit and top of the mind
status. It's pretty obvious that we all are here to reap profits and be famous.
Trust me every other person craves it, my point is to be better than others in
such a way that you can get upper hand always when someone copies you.
Today the competition
is not only grim but also dense. We might think that we can beat a
competitor around the corner and get the monopoly, but that’s just a myth. We
cannot even think that we are better than others there's always someone else
giving away for lesser compensation. If you try to beat it, you will go
bankrupt and he will earn your market share. There must be a way to get what
you want right? May be a way to make your importance and earn profits
effectively.
Today's world is about
coexistence not slitting the competition. To be in the heard, but be ahead of
the curve. How is that possible right? I have developed a thought and implemented
till this very day. Also refined it to be a better version. Everyone can have
theirs and perfect it. It is baffling for people to open source something that
they have developed. On the contrary, I believe that I can develop an idea and
give it wings but if someone tries and succeeds in stealing my idea, I know the
drawbacks and stoppages so I can break it down. Also I can generate a new idea
to be better than anything.
How can you proceed
while being in the heard is the question?
Let me take you
through the idea then the implementations.
·
It all starts with the
understanding of everything around you. That's like a revelation you can do
know your strengths weaknesses, then know strengths and weaknesses of everyone
in the same business. Then know all the things that you can know as a person.
Remember everything has limits, do not quote a crap from some motivational
lecture or Robin Sharma book limits are real, acknowledge them be known to it.
·
Next thing you should be
able to get rid of is your entrepreneurial mile high EGO, trust me higher the
ego, harder it falls. I personally like to crush people's egos, because I feel
ego is only needed when you are taken granted, not when someone is talking to
you. That's too heavy revelation but mark a tab on it.
·
Then be freely
available to anyone, always make way for people towards you. Even it is your
office assistant, make sure he speaks his heart out to you, don't be a pushy
friend just a person who is available for the talks. That's very helpful to be
on ground, make friends with everyone in your own office, neighboring office, and
people from same industry, connecting industry and most importantly your competition;
Yes I said it right, your
competitors. Now get over it, there is a reason behind it. When you are in any
troubles like lack of materials they will help, lack of time they will help, lack
of authority they can help, I mean it is like you can have a franchise with
different name and profits sharing. Yes it is possible. It is all in your
interpersonal skills and network.
Simply, just increase
your reach and network. Then when you get any contact in need of professional
help, just forward it to everyone you know who need the business or are in same
industry. This creates a foolproof business network yielding a constant
business. I cannot resist to quickly quoting Frank Underwood, "Generosity
has its own form of power." It fits quite perfect in this context.
Now we talk about
being friends with everyone including the competition. The competition will
always think about destroying your business even though you help them but you
have to take it as an inevitable given rule which you can't change. If you give
him something he will ignore, and then snatch it, then insult, and then will
offer. But if you ask like why go through all this when I can expand my own
business and reap more profits, my answer is you can't if you could expand then
he would be asking you instead of you asking him. There's always a
catch, remember even god doesn't give anything that easily, you have to earn
it. Once you earn your competition's trust you win half of his market share,
his resources and his profits. Learn from his best practices and mistakes, know
what has to be done to make more profits, they can teach you what even your
business school professors can't even think of.
Till now you just got
to the background the reaping starts later. Some of you might get offended with
the being friends and morality issue here I understand this is not some pseudo claims
but a legit plan of action which is quiet used everywhere, it’s called the healthy competition in marketing
world and even great marketers oppose counterfeiting so the morality is not an
issue here it’s just that you need to accept things. If you can’t, you lose
big.
You must follow the
rules while working on it.
1.
Always be patient.2. Never be pushy
3. Keep your ego out of the door
4. Always practice Zen (when we get angry we can’t think straight, so it gets us twisted)
5. There is always a way to do stuff.(if you get stuck in something think about the way to get out of the tangle, not about the tangle.)
6. Try to give more to the people around you. ( A simple small gesture won’t hurt much as the blocking would, it will help in gaining trust)
7. Don’t be obvious and wanna-be kind of person. (Be natural as you are its more comfortable like that.)
8. Never owe anything to anyone try to payback as soon as you can. Also don’t ask for favors unless it’s something inevitable.
9. Make the person you are talking to feel glad to have a chat with you. (Not every conversation is an argument that you have to win. Small talk is some people’s way to talk)
10. Make way for suggestions.
There is an extension to this plan of action including the
execution plan. I will be making it easier to understand as this is kind of too
heavy for puny brains, and revelation for some. It’s actually a way to get
success with less possible collateral damage. People who agree can wait for the
later part and the people who found it boring can have fun working for these kinds
of people.
